What does excellent self care mean?

Excellent self-care means never believing mean or unkind things about yourself.

I’m practicing this today, while taking myself through a post-webinar evaluation exercise. I list out the following;

➡️ What worked
➡️ What didn’t work
➡️ What I will do differently next time

It’s an objective exercise designed to aid progress and innovation. I’m rewatching my webinar with curiosity about what I said and how I showed up.

My brain 🧠 also wants to have it's say.

It wants to criticise my performance.

🧠 You should’ve said so much more!
🧠 You definitely shouldn’t have said that thing!
🧠 Why on earth did you wear THAT sweater? You look awful!

Bless the brain!! It's having a good go at taking me down. 😅

When you know that this is just what your brain does, it's just trying to keep you safe and small and alive (literally) it doesn't mean you any harm by what it's thinking you can let it do it's thing whilst also doing your own thing that feels so much better.

So as my brain was telling me how awful I looked in that sweater and that I definitely shouldn't have said that thing on my webinar I ALSO decided to think that I look hot in this sweater and that the thing I said was the exact thing that the people listening needed to hear today.

My brain can say all the mean things it likes about me.

I just don't believe it.

You don't have to believe all the mean things your brain says about you either.

You can choose to think thoughts about yourself that feel better. It is your right and privilege as a human being.
