How to take your life back
There were times in the last year that I thought my life was over. I thought that I'd come as far as I could come in my life, and I felt kind of dead inside.
I had such big dreams and now here I was dealing with someone else's life. Literally. My daughter's father passed in Nov'21. Administering his estate required much of my energy.
My brain ruminated on questions like 'Why did this happen to me? Is this all I'm good for?' Terrible questions that left me feeling crushed, drained, angry.
I know you feel like this too at times.
Feeling dead inside, crushed, and drained are the normal response to the terrible conversations we have with ourselves. It doesn't mean that we have to tolerate these emotions, or that we'll feel this way forever.
First we have to recognise that the feelings are caused by the stories we tell ourselves and NOT by external circumstances.
6 months later, I have my life back. I took it back.
You can take your life back too. Here's how;
⭐️ I made myself aware of the stories my brain was ruminating on (my life is over, this is too hard, I'll never be happy again)
⭐️ I got authoritative with my brain "No more of this BS"
⭐️ I wrote myself a new story that felt better and installed it in my brain, by practicing it repeatedly "my life is just beginning, I've been given a gift here, I've been doing something amazing this year"
⭐️ I noticed and embraced the better feelings created by these new stories.
⭐️ I started making decisions based on what I wanted the the rest of my life to look and feel like in the future
