Perimenopause can be easier; here’s how.
Perimenopause is not a ride in the park.
It's a challenging time filled with obstacles.
🥵 Hot flashes
🥱 Sleepless nights
🫨 Mood swings
🫣 Weight gain
😶🌫️ Brain Fog
To ease some of these delightful changes, I've been lifting weights at the gym this year. I want to do as much as I can to support my body during perimenopause.
Lifting weights is one way I can do that.
I'm not here to sell you on weight training though. We all know the benefits.
But jeez I had to sell myself on actually doing it, because it is so hard!
Your brain, like mine, will always come up with ALL the reasons why it's so hard to do something.
😣 It's so hard!
🫨 I can't go to the gym AND get to the office on time.
😑 I can't carry all my stuff to the gym for the whole day (change of clothes, packed lunch, wash bag, are you kidding me?!)
🤔 I don't know what I'm doing in the gym.
🫣 I'm not strong enough to lift those weights.
😳 I look stupid in the gym, everyone's looking at me thinking ‘who is she even kidding?’
It's your primitive brains job to keep you safe.
By giving you all the reasons why it's so hard, your Primitive Brain is keeping you safe and alive.
Here's the thing; we are safe in the gym and in our lives in general. We are so safe that we've survived long enough for there to be about 8bn of us on the planet!
There's ONE thing that makes it so much harder for me to get to the gym and lift weights.
The mistaken belief that it should be easy.
I've heard this over and over again from my clients. Does it sound familiar to you too?
🗯️ I should have this all figured out by now.
🗯️ I'm a smart, capable person, why can't I get this?
🗯️ I'm DONE with hard things, I just want it to be easy now.
🗯️ This shouldn't be so hard / this should be easy.
🗯️ I deserve for it to be easy now.
You don't go to the gym to lift pillows. That would not make you strong.
The same is true of your life as a whole.
You didn't come here for it to be easy. Life would be very, very boring if it were.
You came here to overcome obstacles designed to help you become a stronger woman.
Perimenopause is an obstacle on your path to becoming your most evolved self.
It is supposed to be hard.
Making peace with this is what makes it easier.
